October 6, 2011 - It's hard to imagine a world without portable media players, but that's exactly what things were like in the year 2000. At that time, the CD-player was still king and the music world was in disarray thanks to illegal music-sharing services like Napster.
On October 23, 2001, everything changed when Apple announced the Apple iPod and iTunes. While the iPod wasn't the first digital media player to hit the market, it was the first one that people really wanted. The brilliant 'click wheel' controller, excellent user interface, and stylish design made the iPod a near-instant hit with the younger crowd.
Each generation and version of the iPod added new features like higher storage capacity, a more compact design, and even touchscreens. The evolution of this device is extremely interesting, as each device was a masterpiece of engineering and design when it originally released. Continue on to see the evolution of the iPod from the beginning up until now!
