12 Things That Next Generation Gaming Consoles Need to Have

Improved Graphics 1 of 13

January 9, 2012 - It appears that the seventh generation of video game consoles is finally coming to an end. The next generation Xbox is slated for an E3 2012 reveal and Sony may show off the next PlayStation at the same time. These two complete the set when added to the Wii U, the Nintendo 3DS, and the PlayStation Vita. At this time, very little is known about the "Xbox 720," the "PlayStation 4," or even the Wii U. Therefore, I've decided to compile a list of features that these next generation consoles need to truly improve over the current hardware.

Let's get the obvious out of the way first and state that all these consoles need to improve graphical performance dramatically. A modern gaming PC is much more powerful than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and then there's the deplorable Wii. Nintendo has already hinted that the Wii U will be more powerful than the PlayStation 3, but I'm really hoping for some jaw-dropping technical specs (like 4K resolution and 8-core processors) out of the Xbox 720 and PS4.
