Recently the Department of Defense made a decision that allows the country to respond to cyber attacks with physical force in some cases. Cyber warfare has been a steadily growing threat since the invention of the Internet, but some feel that the country still isn't taking the threat seriously enough. Cofer Black, CIA's Counterterrorist Center stated that today's policy makers still don't understand the seriousness of the cyber warfare threat.
While speaking at the Black Hat cybersecurity conference in Las Vegas, Black compared the country's current attitude towards cyber warfare to the attitude held towards terrorism before the events of 9/11. Whether we are ready for it or not, the threat is looming.
