What to Expect from the Solar Flare

Solar Flare Overview 1 of 11

March 8, 2012

The sun erupted Tuesday evening and emitted a solar flare that should hit the Earth with a considerable storm. The flare has the possibility to affect orientations of satellites, among other things.

The Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) hit Earth at approximately 5:45 A.M. EST Thursday and is expected to last through Friday morning. Additionally, another set of active sunspots is primed to aim at Earth soon after the current storm dissipates.
