Eating food is typically just a mundane part of life, but some people taking eating very seriously. These people are competitive eaters. These food warriors travel across the country and around the world to participate in fascinating feats of gluttony. Check out some of the world's best competitive eaters and some of the insane food records they've set.

First up is a man who is possibly the best eater in the entire world. Takeru Kobayashi of Japan was the reigning champion of the Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest for six years in a row. In 2010, he reached a contract dispute with Major League Eating and is no longer allowed to compete in that event. In 2011, he claimed to have eaten a world record 69 hot dogs at an off-site event, but the real number was closer to 65. In 2012, he absolutely destroyed the competition at SXSW by eating 13 grilled cheese sandwiches in just one minute!
