Josephine Blatt was a female strongwoman who performed weightlifting feats under the stage name of "Minerva" during the late 19th century. She is credited with performing a single-arm overhead press with 100 lbs., lifting a 300 lb. barrel from the ground to her shoulders and a hip-and-harness lift with a platform holding 18 men. One anecdote described how she chased a heckler down during one of her shows and grabbed him by the neck and threw him several feet into a tent pole. This woman was not to be messed with.
