In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in Argentina and discovered that they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to do something to help the children, he founded TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of shoes for a child in need. Later that year, Blake returned to Argentina with friends, family members and staff with 10,000 pairs of shoes.
Six years later, TOMS has now given away more than one million shoes! Read on to find out more about why TOMS gives away shoes, what TOMS' 'One Day Without Shoes' is, and what you can do to help.
