Recreational drug use has existed in the world since the beginning of history, as people will always look to drugs to escape the harsh reality of life. Nowadays, this type of drug use is typically limited to nightlife activities, which has earned them the nickname of "club drugs." While everyone has heard of drugs like cocaine, opium, or ecstasy, there are probably quite a few club drugs you've never heard of. Educate yourself about these lesser known recreational drugs!

First up is GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyric acid), which is a naturally occurring substance in the human nervous system. This substance can be prescribed as a treatment for narcolepsy, but is mainly used as a recreational drug. It comes in a salt form and is usually mixed with liquid for consumption. Someone tripping on GHB will have these symptoms:

  • Euphoria
  • Disinhibition
  • Enhanced sensuality
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Amnesia

Due to these symptoms, GHB is commonly used as a date rape drug. It can be referred to as G, Liquid Ecstasy, Liquid X, or Georgia Home Boy.
