How Much Americans Eat

Hot Dogs: July's Most Consumed Food 1 of 11

As Americans, we love hotdogs, but exactly how many do we eat a year? According to statistics gathered in 2009, we eat more than 20 billion hotdogs a year just in the United States. In fact, on July 4th alone, (which is the barbeque favorite's most popular day) roughly 155 million hot dogs are eaten. Sources say that that is enough hot dogs to stretch all the way from LA to DC more than five times. I can just imagine what this number does to ketchup, mustard and relish consumption numbers as well.
