What Is Hypnosis Really About?

A Simple Procedure 1 of 11

Hypnosis is not the voodoo that it is portrayed to be in pop culture, with a witch doctor swinging a pocket watch to make you fall asleep and do silly things. Hypnosis is considered to be an altered state of consciousness in which a focused attention and an opening of the mind can help to heal and calm by allowing someone to change the way he/she thinks, feels and acts.

In most cases, hypnosis treatments will simply involve closing your eyes and relaxing while performing a few hand gestures before falling into a trance state. There are no needles or machines involved here, just the peace of your own mind.
