After failing to pay $6 million in taxes to the IRS in 2009, Nicolas Cage faced bankruptcy and put many of his properties on the market. Much Hollywood gossip has speculated that choices to make films like 'Ghost Rider,' 'Drive Angry 3D,' and 'Season of the Witch' have merely been paycheck roles to make up for the losses.
Cage has amazingly grossed more than $4 billion for his films over his career and still managed to go broke. It's reported that the actor has owned a jet, fleet of fifty sports cars, two yachts, three castles, several mansions, and two islands in the Bahamas. If that's not enough, he spent a reported $276,000 in 2007 to outbid Leonardo Dicaprio on a 67-million-year-old dinosaur skull. Coincidentally, that skull was one of the items Cage put on the auction block when facing the IRS.
