What Twitter Hoaxes Shouldn't You Fall For?

The Kara Alongi Hoax 1 of 10

Social media is a bit of a free-for-all, and its an open forum that can get pretty crazy. You can't believe everything you read. We learned this lesson again recently when a New Jersey teenager fooled us all.

On September 30, 2012 Kara Alongi tweeted that there was a strange man in her house that was close to locating her. This sparked an Internet blitz that left her name trending worldwide, adding 96,000 followers to her account. When all is said and done, the girl actually left the state by her own free will and has not been located as of this the writing of this article. What a cruel joke.
