Reasons you believe Adam Sandler is a terrible actor:
'Jack and Jill,' 'That's My Boy,' 'Grown Ups,' 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry,' 'Little Nicky,' 'Big Daddy,' 'Bulletproof,' 'Happy Gilmore,' 'The Waterboy,' 'Billy Madison,' 'The Animal,' 'Mr. Deeds,' '50 First Dates,' 'The Longest Yard,' 'Click,' 'You Don't Mess with the Zohan,' 'Anger Management,' 'Airheads,' 'Coneheads,' 'Just Go with It'
Proof that he's not: 'Punch-Drunk Love'
All it took to show Adam Sandler can tap into deep emotions and commit to a performance other than that of goonish adolescent nonsense was a fine script and expert direction from the best filmmaker of a generation in Paul Thomas Anderson. Sandler reached acting depths nobody thought he had in him in 'Punch-Drunk Love,' and he has never topped his performance since.
Honorable Mentions: 'Reign Over Me,' 'Funny People,' 'Spanglish,' 'The Wedding Singer'
