What Are the Most Insane Musical Instruments?

Stalacpipe Organ 1 of 17

Deep inside the Cathedral of Luray Caverns, Virginia, a former Pentagon scientist spent decades building one of the most awe-inspiring musical creations the world has ever seen. That scientist, Leland W. Sprinkle, is credited with building the world's largest musical instrument, known as The Great Stalacpipe Organ. Stalactites, which cover three and a half acres of the enchanting caves and are connected by more than five miles of wires, produce breathtaking, symphonic tones when the stalactites are prodded with rubber-tipped mallets.
