Imagine having to spend the cost of a house every year on medication just to stay alive, and often your insurance doesn't even help with the cost. That is what many people are dealing with in the United States right now. Here are some of the most expensive prescription medications avaliable right now.

Acthar or ACTH is used to treat seizures in babies under 2 years old, among other things such as multiple sclerosis. The drug used to be available for just $50 a dose but recently that cost shot up to $28,000 for a tiny vial meaning it can cost up to $300,000 a year. And since it isn't approved by the FDA to treat infant seizures people usually can't get their health insurance to help pay for it.
