Cancun Underwater Museum

An Underwater Museum is Born 1 of 5

Founded by Jaime Gonzalez Cano of The National Marine Park, Roberto Diaz of The Cancun Nautical Association and Jason deCaires Taylor, the Cancun Underwater Museum is a project that consists of over 300 permanent life-size sculptures that opened in April 2011. The project began in November 2009, aiming to demonstrate the interaction between art and environmental science, hoping to form a complex reef structure for marine life to colonize and inhabit.
