Places to Visit in Puerto Rico

San Juan 1 of 6

Many people go to San Juan; afterall, it is the capital. You can visit:

  • El Castillo San Felipe del Morro [a 16th century historical fortress and citadel]
  • El Castillo de San Cristóbal [another fort which was finished in 1783]
  • El Palacio de Santa Catalina aka La Fortaleza [built betwen 1533 and 1540, the first defensive fortification for the island]
  • Plaza San José
  • Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña [an amazing art gallery]

Also, walk by:

  • Calle Las Monjas - street in Old San Juan [there is a beautiful plaza and old convent]
  • Calle Fortaleza [my favorite]
  • El Paseo de La Princesa [street that is paved right on the coast outside the fortress walls]

Try to set a whole day aside to explore Old San Juan - there are so many shops to explore.
