The 26th Amendment of the US Constitution was ratified in 1971 and allowed all US citizens to vote at the age of 18. The Amendment was a side effect of the Vietnam War, when young men were asked to go to war at 18 but were unable to participate in any election that concerned the war. ChaCha!
