Gray rat snakes are not poisonous. They prefer hardwood forest, wooded canyons, swamps, rocky timbered upland, farmland, old fields and barnyards, are ound from sea level to 4,400 feet and are sometimes mistaken for Cottonmouth Moccasin. ChaCha!
