Can bipolar people donate blood?
Sometimes people with Bipolar Disorder feel they cannot donate blood because they are being treated for depression or bipolar disorder with various medications. In many cases, this is not true! About Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive disorder, is a psychological disorder based on cyclical mood swings. People in a manic state can be energetic, positive and productive. In extreme manic states people can experience hallucinations and delusions. Conversely, people in the depressive side of the cycle can exhibit the opposite behaviors of the manic state with a propensity for suicide. For some it can be crushing, but for others it can lead to creativity, goal striving, and positive achievements.

The average adult has about five liters of blood inside of their body, coursing through their vessels, delivering essential elements, and removing harmful wastes. Without blood, the human body would stop working. Blood transports oxygen from the lungs to the body’s tissue and carbon dioxide from the body tissue to the lungs. Blood is the fluid of growth, transporting nourishment from digestion and hormones from glands throughout the body. Blood is the fluid of health, transporting disease fighting substances to the tissue and waste to the kidneys.
