About Pink Eye
Pinkeye, also known as conjunctivitis, is an infection of the mucous membrane lining the eyelid and surface of the eye usually caused by bacteria or a virus. Pinkeye is rarely a serious condition, and usually clears up on its own in seven to 10 days. Symptoms of conjunctivitis include eye redness, swollen red eyelids, heavy tearing up, itching or burning feeling, drainage from the eye, and feeling like something is stuck in the eye.
