About Pecans
Pecans are nuts from hickory trees native to south-central North America. They can be found in Mexico, and all over the United States in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Florida and New Mexico. Thomas Jefferson had pecan trees in his nut orchard at Monticello and he gave some to George Washington. In 1906 the pecan tree became the state tree of Texas.
