About Heart Disease
Heart disease is a blanket term for any type of disease that affects the heart. It can refer to coronary heart disease, cardiomyopathy, alcoholic cardiomyopathy, coronary artery disease, congenital heart disease, ischemic cardiomyopathy, hypertensive cardiomyopathy, valvular cardiomyopathy, inflammatory cardiomyopathy, myocardiodystrophy or any other number of heart diseases.
About Heart Attack
Heart attacks are scary things, and can happen to just about anyone, any time. They are the result of a stoppage of blood flow to the heart causing blood cells to die. This usually happens because an artery has been blocked by plaque made up of lipids and white blood cells. If heart attacks are left untreated they can result in severe damage to the heart or death.
About Stroke
A stroke is the rapid loss of brain function due to loss of blood flow to the brain. The blood flow can be disrupted by either some sort of blockage or hemorrhage. This results in the complete stoppage of function in the corresponding area of the brain, leading to inability to move one or more limbs on one side of the body, inability to understand or formulate speech, or an inability to see one side of the visual field. A stroke is a medical emergency and can cause permanent damage to the nerves and even lead to death.
