About Turkey
Turkeys are a large type of bird related to the grouse, and probably one of the most famous birds in North America. In fact, Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird instead of the bald eagle. They have a distinctive fleshy bit called a wattle that hangs down from the beak. The turkey’s ability to fly depends entirely on its weight. If the bird is light enough, it can fly about 100 yards to avoid predators. Most people encounter turkeys on sandwiches and on the dinner table around the holidays. For tips on cooking turkeys, search Cha-Cha for ''How to Cook a Turkey.''
