Can you compare and contrast endocytosis and exocytosis?

Rate This Answer

Endocytosis is the transport of solid matter or liquid into a cell by means of a coated vacuole or vesicle. Exocytosis is the transport of material out of a cell by means of a sac or vesicle that first engulfs the material and then is extruded. Endocytosis involves the movement of materials into the cell using ATP energy. Exocytosis involves the movement of materials by discharging them as membrane-bounded vesicles passing through the cell membrane.
