Can you describe four ways in which entire organisms can be preserved as fossils?
1) Petrifaction: when the organic plant or animal material is replaced with minerals and eventually hardens into rock; 2) Amber: a gold-colored resin that forms from pine tree sap that encases whole organisms; 3) Ice: organisms frozen whole; and 4) Sedimentary Rock: produced by mud or sand, usually found on rivers and lakes.
