There is a belief among a lot of people studying chemistry that if you mix two soluble substances together a double displacement reaction always occurs. I see this frequently in this forum of Yahoo Answers. Recently the following equation was offered: ZnSO4(aq) + 2NaCl(aq) ZnCl2(aq) + Na2SO4(aq) Of course it is not correct to suggest that any such "reaction" has (more?)
