Can you describe the relative movements and dominant stresses involved in the four major types of faults?

Rate This Answer

Normal dip-slip faults move down the fault surface and reverse dip-slip faults move up the fault surface. Dextral strike-slip faults have "top to right" movement, and sinstrel strike-slip faults have "top to left" movement. The terms "top to right" and "top to left" mean when looking at the fault on the ground, the opposite side (from where one stands) is "top"
