Can you discuss how the fires in Texas this summer fit the overall pattern of heat events?

So why was 2011 so dry? It is not possible to say at this time whether global warming will make year-long precipitation shortages more or less common, intense, or frequent, or whether the current precipitation shortage is part of what will eventually emerge as a long-term trend or is an exception to the long-term trend. Though climate models project decreased precipitation, the observations imply that Texas is in a temporary period of drought susceptibility. ChaCha's on fire!
