Can you explain a diagram showing the difference in the way leading and lagging strands are synthesized?

Because DNA replication occurs in the 5' to 3' direction, one strand (in a double stranded DNA model, the leading) is replicated continuously while the lagging strand is replicated in a staggered direction since it is aligned in the 3' to 5' directed relative to the leading strand. This results in Okazaki fragments during replication which are joined together at its completion.
