Can you explain the distinction dimmesdale makes between penace and penitence?
The penance is the physical mutilation which Dim. had inflicted upon himself & the psychological torture which brought upon by Chil. Penitence is all the pain &vigil Dim. had held in order to regain favor from God. ChaCha!
