Can you get cramps around the time of your period during pregnancy?
During the early stages of pregnancy, it is possible that a woman will have an episode or two of light spotting or bleeding, and this may be accompanied by mild menstrual-type cramping pain. Beyond this, however, menstrual-type cramps during pregnancy are not generally considered normal and can be a sign of a problem. ChaCha!

About Pregnancy cramps
Pregnancy changes every aspect of your body. However, many of these changes are gradual over the duration of the pregnancy. One of the first symptoms a pregnant woman may experience are cramps. These cramps are different from the cramps one experiences during menstruation; they are the result of implantation of the fertilized egg, the stretching of the uterus and ligaments, or gas/constipation. Unfortunately, sometimes cramping in early pregnancy can be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy, or a miscarriage.
