Can you provide an example of a virus and the conditions that make a virus successful?
West Nile Virus is spread by the bite of an infected mosquito. Mosquitoes become infected when they feed on infected birds. After 10 to 14 days, the infected mosquito can transmit West Nile Virus to people and animals through its bite. West Nile virus is not spread from person-to-person or animal-to-person contact. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) West Nile virus (WNV) is a potentially serious seasonal (summer/fall) illness for which there is no specific treatment. In mild cases people experience symptoms such as fever and aches that pass on their own, although even healthy people have become sick for several weeks.
