Can you tell me television production was mostly experimental. After World War II, television production became commercial. What is the difference?

World War II Before WW2 most television technology was only being tested. Although television became more familiar in the United States with the general public at the 1939 World's Fair, the outbreak of World War II prevented it from being manufactured on a large scale until after the end of the war, when it suddenly took off commercially.
