William Blake's poem "A Poison Tree" explores the consequences of hatred. Blake describes two situations, one in which the speaker is angry with a friend and one in which the speaker is angry with an enemy and shows how anger can manifest. I was angry with my friend; I told my wrath, my wrath did end. I was angry with my foe: I told it not, my wrath did grow.
