Did American soldiers segregate their troops by color?
During his presidency over 60 years ago, Harry S. Truman’s made executive order that integrated the U.S. armed forces. Before that, American soldiers were segregated. Both the Army and Marine Corps integrated because of the Korean War. The pressures of combat and the need to find people to fight is what really pushed the Army and Marine Corps into integration.
