About Phantom of the Opera
The Phantom of the Opera began as a book by French writer Gaston Leroux in 1906 titled 'Le Gaulois.' Although the book fell out of publication several times, the tale lives on, most notably in Andrew Lloyd Webber's award-winning 1986 musical of the same name. Phantom of the Opera follows a mysterious masked performer who lives haunts a theater and who falls in love with the beautiful voice of a young woman.
