Did Nissan buy out Toyota?
Toyota is still owned by Toyota Motor Corporation and is based in Toyota, Aichi, Japan. Nissan (Nissan Motor Company, Ltd.) formerly marketed vehicles under the Datsun brand name and is one of the largest car manufacturers in the world. In 2010, Nissan announced that its own hybrid technology no longer is based on Toyota's. They were never the same conpany.
