Did scientists turn to alchemy as the way to knowledge in 1600s?
During the 1600s scientists decided that the principles of alchemy regarding 3 elements of matter (earth, water, and heat) were true and for roughly 150 years accepted these things as truths and based all scientific research around this belief. We now know the alchemists were not correct but at the time the scientists turned to them for knowledge regarding matter.
