No. You will need to update your ipod 4Gs' software to ios5, then you will have imessage and lots more new features in your ipod. 200+ new features according to apple. in case you don't know, to update: connect your ipod to itunes and click your ipod tab, then click update button, this may take several minutes depending on how fast your internet speed is.
