Do crawfish breathe water, or air?

Rate This Answer

Crayfish, crawfish, or crawdads are members of the superfamilies Astacoidea and Parastacoidea - are freshwater crustaceans resembling small lobsters, to which they are related. They breathe by extracting oxygen from water using their gills. Gills simply provide a large surface area for contact between blood and the water, so that oxygen can diffuse from water into the blood efficiently. ChaCha!
