Dogs Veterinarian Marty Becker says many of the bacteria in the mouth of a dog are species specific, so it won't harm humans. You're more likely to get a serious illness from kissing a person than kissing a dog.

There are a lot of Germs in a Dogs mouth, but most of them are dog specific so they don't pose much of a threat to humans. Thanks!

Dog mouths are not clean as much as it is that dog diseases don't effect people and vice versa. So, not clean, just different.
