Before June 1, 2009, U.S. citizens do not need a passport entering Canada, but need valid ID that proves identity and citizenship.
US citizens arriving in Canada by land or water do not need a passport until at least summer 2009. If you fly you will need one.
If traveling by air, you need a passport. By land or water you don't need one.You must prove U.S citizenship to reenter the states
Currently, if traveling by land, you do not need a passport to get into Canada, only if by air or by sea. Thanks for the ChaCha!
