Does a lower activation energy speed up a chemical reaction?
The lower the activation energy for a reaction, the faster the rate. Enzymes bind temporarily to one or more of the reactants — the substrate(s) — of the reaction they catalyze. In doing so, they lower the amount of activation energy needed and thus speed up the reaction. I really hope this helps, if not ask away! It's free to text of call! ChaCha!
