Donating blood doesn't hurt any more than having your blood taken for some other reason. It does sting when the needle goes in.

About Hurt
An occasional hurt is normal, but pain that goes on for a long time may indicate a problem. Pain is the way that the body warns us that something is wrong. Although no one likes to experience pain, it can be helpful in diagnosing a problem. Without pain, you might seriously hurt yourself without even knowing it, or you might not realize you have a medical problem that needs some form of treatment. Once you take care of the problem, the pain usually goes away.
