Harry Potter Because he was Lily's son, Snape vowed to protect Harry Potter to honour his mother's sacrifice. However, Harry being the son of James Potter, the arch-nemesis of his school days, Snape refused to treat the boy with respect. Indeed, Snape was filled with nothing but contempt towards Harry, who served as living proof of the fact that Lily had loved another man, and spent no time in comparing him continually with his father and despising the both of them in any way he could.
