Barack Obama was a cigarette smoker for many years and it is known he has struggled at times with quitting. He quit in '07 but said he fell off the wagon and began smoking again during his campaign for the presidency, after he became president he again quit smoking. On February 8th, 2011 1st Lady Michele Obama went on the record saying it has been almost a full year since he had a cigarette! In '04 the Chicago Tribune reported that Marlboros Reds were his brand of choice. <3 ChaCha

President Obama says that he still smokes but is 95% cured. He does refer to him as a former smoker with occasional slip ups.

Obama used to smoke but he has since kicked the habit. Obama just recently signed a tobacco regulation law in the Rose Garden.
