In Chapter 5, Bilbo wakes up alone and in the dark. He is frightened. It was a turning point in his career. He put the Ring in his pocket almost without thinking. Bilbo remarks that this must be an Elvish blade. He then gets up and starts to follow along the wall of the cave, holding Sting in one hand and feeling the cavern wall with the other. He continues walking and becomes more and more tired. Suddenly, without warning, he walks into icy cold water. He determines that this is a subterranean lake. Although Bilbo cannot see, he is being watched by one who sees well in this dark Gollum.Thanks for using ChaCha!
