A magnitude 3.1 earthquake struck southwest of Tecate on Saturday and may have been felt in East County, according to automated seismographs and computers operated by the U.S. Geological Survey. The shock was centered about 26 miles east-northeast of Ensenada, or about 60 miles southwest of Tecate. It hit at 9:05 a.m.
