How are Buddhism and Christianity similar?
The similarities of Buddhism and Christianity: They both preach almost the same values and penalities for actions. People who die go to heaven or hell. There are many forms of Buddhism, many ways of understanding Buddhism. If you have one hundred people practicing Buddhism, you may have one hundred forms of Buddhism. The same is true in Christianity. If there are one hundred thousand people practicing Christianity, there may be one hundred thousand ways of understanding Christianity. ChaCha

About Christianity
Christianity is a monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. It began as a sect of Judaism in the middle of the first century, but split after suffering persecution from Jews and the Roman government. Christianity remained a persecuted religion until 313 AD, then became the official religion of the Roman Empire in 380 AD. Christianity spread in the coming centuries, and suffered two major schisms - once in 1054 AD between the Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church, and again in the 16th century during the Protestant Reformation. Worldwide, Christianity has over two billion adherants, is the largest religion in the world, and is the official religion of several countries.
About Buddhism
Buddhism is a religion and philosophy developed in Northeastern India sometime between the 6th and 4th centuries BC. It is based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, commonly known as the Buddha. Two major branches of Buddhism have developed - Theravada and Mahayana - that have spread across much of Asia and, in recent years, across much of the world. According to estimates, there are between 350 - 500 million adherents to forms of Buddhism across the world.
